What video game are you playing and do you like it?

A bit late to this one but I started playing Dungreed now that the developer has a new game in early access. It’s a 2D side-scrolling action roguelite with a bit of silliness. Pretty fun so far. Not quite far enough to know about build variety but I’m hoping for a decent amount.

Two quick things - a) Picked up that You Are the Hero book about Fighting Fantasy. Have been enjoying paging through it. Remembered I had the digital version of The Warlock of Firetop Mountain on Switch, which I’m playing now. Pretty neat little implementation. Good for passing the time with a cup of coffee.

And b) Not adventure game or dungeon crawl related, but this cinematic trailer for Marathon is pretty fantastic. Sort of making me want to continue my playthrough of Witch Queen in Destiny, though jury’s still out. https://youtu.be/fvbEnWLRo1s

Playing Tainted Grail and it’s amazing so far. Reminds me me Elden Ring meets Skyrim with a little Arx Fatalis thrown in

It’s amazing, great music, great atmosphere and an open world rpg

Is it a digital reimagining of the board game or just something that shares a similar name?

I can confirm that the new Tainted Grail video game is great! It’s like the indie sequel to Skyrim I’ve always wanted. Lot’s of great systems, the exploration is great, the writing is good, and the combat is more engaging than Skyrim. Really a solid effort at an affordable price, made by a small team.

As it stands right now I think this is my second favorite open world rpg ever made under dragon age origins. Just so much I am loving about it. Lots of attention to detail put into the game. Really makes some recent games look empty compared to this game.

This is great! I was planning on trying it out anyway, because I got a key for free from one of Awaken Realms crowdfunding campaigns. But awesome to hear that it’d have been worth purchasing too.

Just gotta finish up Expedition 33 first. Which is also pretty good. Been awhile since I played a JRPG style game to the end.

If you need more convincing.

I think this is now my favorite game ever, the more time I put into it. Developers are highly active too and listening to the community.

Awesome! I really like the world. The Tainted Grail boardgame is one of those games that showed me my (now) wife was marriage material. It’s not everyone you meet that’ll push for 12 hour gaming sessions.

Playing sea of stars on my steamdeck. Combat is a bit repetetive (played about 10h so far) but the pixel graphics is lovely.

I absolutely LOVED this game. It’s like if Wizardry was a horror game set in feudal Japan. Everything about it is super grimdark. I even bought the soundtrack on Bandcamp.

Tintin and the cigars of the pharoah
For the Nintendo switch
Star wars battlefront 2 for the series X
Trepang2 for the series X

All three are not bad
Actually nice to play battlefront 2 again.

Tintin is surprisingly okay
And trepang is quite fun very reminiscent of fear

Some of those Japanese dungeon crawl video games are pretty cool. I enjoyed one called Stranger of Sword City, and it, too, had an old school Wizardry! vibe going on.

That is a good one too! I love those old school wizardry type dungeon crawls

Trying really hard to focus on Baldur’s Gate 3. It’s fantastic, but committing to it is like reading a really thick novel or watching the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy in one sitting. I even have it on story mode, but it’s still a lot to process and mentally track. As someone that remembers picking up the original on release day from Electronics Boutique, it really is a trip to see how far the series has come.

I am addicted to Palworld right now. It is so dang good and the world is massive. Lots of dungeons, secrets, bosses, enemy bases etc. It looks great and runs smooth and building your own base is super smooth. They just added a ton of big dungeons and stuff. This could be my favorite survival game ever right now.
