I replayed with Ro not long ago, which is mostly graphics-focused mods. I did not make it to the end before the eventual uninstall. But it was a good time!
Just played through Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night for the first time. It was a decent take on the Castlevania: SotN model. But I wish the harder difficulties were unlocked at the start. I barely even remember any bosses because I just plowed through them.
I have been playing Divinity: Original Sin 2 (on a Switch) with a friend online on-and-off weekly for about a year now (100ish hours), and we have just started Act 3. Whilst 1) some things are a little niggley with a game pad, and 2) there is so much cool tangential stuff that I want to interact with that I sort of have lost track of the main storyline, we have been really enjoying it. I think I prefer the action point system to the tabletop Main, Bonus, Free action model, but realise that it only really works because the game tracks it for me. A huge boon of the game is that respeccing is easy - you don’t have to worry about putting your stat gains in the wrong place, because you can freely move them around. This doesn’t lead to diluted characters either; the rogue has always been the rogue, but if we find some amazing gear with an amazing skill but also a minimum stat requirement, one small tweak later my dwarf has a very cool new hat. I think I got it on a half price sale - well worth it.
Playing Pokémon Violet on switch with my daughter. Quite good fun!
I quite enjoyed the Divinity: Original Sin series!
I’ve been playing through Elden Ring again, this time going through the DLC at NG rather than NG+3. Much easier!
But basically I’m just biding my time until Avowed comes out in a few days. I am so incredibly stoked for that.
I did the dumb thing and paid for early access on PC… The game looks amazing and combat so far has been super fun (I’m switching between 2H hammer and wand/grimoire). The parkour jumping feels a little weird because of how far you can jump, but it allows for a lot of fun vertical exploration. I’m not very far in but it’s been a good time.
Playing Granblue Fantasy, it’s like a high fantasy dream! Takes me back to the PS2 days of rpgs but with amazing graphics in like a water color style
Pokemon Moon for my 3ds… An oldie but a goodie.
I’ve been absolutely sucked in by Avowed! What a game! It has some of the best exploration I’ve encountered in recent memory. There is so much to see and do, so much packed in to the smallish map. The writing is great, the characters are interesting, the combat is fun, and the story has actually captured my interest, a rare thing for me. Usually I skip cutscenes and dialog scenes because I don’t care, but with Avowed I am fully invested. It’s incredible.
Replaying quite possibly the greatest game ever made. It’s at least in my top 5 of all time. Still looks like it came out today.
That looks cool. And for $5 is pretty low-risk!
I’m playing a game called I Had A Plan!
It’s a small indie thing with a neat concept. You’re a wizard sort of controlling a group of heroes as they go through different realms, trying to defeat the big bad at the end. However, all the heroes have a stat that determines how well they listen to you. You can choose to let them do their own thing (and what they choose on their own is determined by their intelligence) or you can tell them what to do. But you have to watch the meter telling you how likely they are to listen, because your wizard gets frustrated when they don’t. The two ways to lose the game are a party wipe, and your wizard getting so frustrated that he fireballs everyone.
I’m not sure how much play I’ll get out of it, but I’m enjoying it for now. I will say the audio is horrendous and I’ve got it playing into headphones that are nowhere near me. And the graphics also aren’t great. But I’m definitely entertained by the concept. And there’s plenty of humor sprinkled around. The different realms also have some cool themes. So if you’re looking for something to blow a few hours in and like supporting small-time developers, you could do worse than this one.
This is a fun little indie game for mindless space exploration, including planet exploration with away teams.
Approaching Infinity is a turn-based space RPG in the spirit of the sci-fi classics, with endless progression and exploration. Fight tactical battles or try diplomacy. Seek powerful artifacts. Quest, mine, trade, and craft. Level up forever or attempt 1 of 10 victories in hardcore or adventure mode.
There’s a demo. It’s cheap. Rated Very positive after 380 reviews, and the developer keeps it updated. What’s not to love?
Looks cool! For some weird reason steam is offering for me to write a review despite not owning it… But I put it on my wishlist for when I want a new roguelike space adventure.
Still playing Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
After quite some time, finally nearing level 30 (the max) in the Kuttenberg region.
Have maxed out all non-combat skills except Drinking (12) and Scholarship (24).
For combat, Markmanship of 30, Swords 25, Heavy Weapons 17, Unarmed 20.
Having a complete blast with this great game, just solved a serial killer crime spree in the city and proved who has been stealing the King’s silver.
I need to play my copy still! I keep hearing good things on it.
I have recently been revisiting Heroes of Might and Magic III. It remains amazingly good.
This is in my top five best video games of all time. I played it constantly back in the day.
