Looks rad! Like PS1 style graphics.
Apon watching a trailer it’s def N64 style actually.
Yes - it’s neat. I guess if falls into the “King’s Field-like” genre stylistically, though gameplay is slightly more Morrowind-like. Having fun with it.
And it has a neat utilization of the “Lore” stat where Lore can be used in conjunction with a small amount of mana to increase your chance of success on rolls for puzzles. Normally, Lore is kind of a throwaway stat for dialogue choices and trivia. Makes playing a combat-averse thief more fun.
Started playing a unique Real-time w/ Pause CRPG: Banquet for Fools. Most of your party is on AI but you can switch who you’re controlling at any point to force combos if they aren’t automatically doing them. So far it’s pretty interesting but I got a bit stuck after the introductory section while making a party of 4. And I’m still not quite sure I’ve ended up with the right combination of stats and skills. Lots to think about with party building here.
I’m very early in and not quite sure how good the game is overall, but it’s got an interesting aesthetic and some old-school sensibilities about it.
Damn, that screen shot looks amazing.
I think Crimson Desert is my game of the year so far. Graphics and exploration are top notch. The draw distance is incredible and there is so much to do. It’s like a living breathing sandbox fantasy adventure. They fixed the controls and also fixed a bunch of other stuff and added some new things too. This may end up being in my top 5 ever.
Nice! What platform are you playing it on?
PS5 Pro, runs great on it
Are you playing it right now?
No, haven’t bought it but been doing some looking into it
I was hesitant for awhile until I had 2 friends tell me they loved it and thought I would really like it. Exploration has always been a big thing for me in video games and this game does it great. It kinda reminds me of Witcher but with a more detailed and alive world. They keep fixing stuff all the time to make it a more well polished game which is great. It is so easy to just get lost in this game and wander around and see all the sights and the world is massive!
It does sound good. My main concern was that it seems like it might be a bit ‘fiddly’. I am over games where you need to search every object in a room to collect hundreds of resources for some essential crafting mini-game. ![]()
Nah not here really. You can gather some resources if you want to upgrade your weapons/armor or for cooking. No crafting mini games ha thankfully.
Good to know, thanks
This has got to be the greatest dinosaur game ever conceived. I’ve just been watching my partner play for the last few weeks and I am jealous. They are going to buy me a copy so I can try it out. The depth/scope of this game is nuts.
They say it’s the scariest game they’ve ever played and we have played a LOT of horror together.
I want to take a moment and thank you all for posting about what is fun for the last few years. I just got a gaming PC after a 15 year break from the hobby. This thread has been a treasure trove of recommendations that I will wishlist.
I just preordered the Collectors’ Edition of Fable coming out February 23, 2027.
It’s the most money I’ve ever spent on a video game, but it’s my favorite series ever and I’m so happy we are finally getting a new game considering the last main game in the series came out in 2010!
That stuff looks rad.
