What video game are you playing and do you like it?

No character leveling up… and the only equipment (axe, boat, key) help with travel.

There is another more RPGy game on Intellivision. Treasure of Tarmin. I haven’t really explored it much.

Started playing The King Is Watching. Deeper than I first expected it to be. But you basically build towns to generate resources and troops that fight waves of incoming enemies outside your walls. There’s different kings you can unlock with different passive abilities. Lots of spells, buildings, and troop types to use. And you can pause things while you plan. Oh, and buildings only produce things while your gaze is on them, so that’s another thing you gotta upgrade in your runs.

Dragon Age the Veilguard - still amazed by the environments in this game. What I always wanted my high fantasy games to look like. Loving it!

Man I am in love with this game, by far the best high fantasy settings of any game I ever played

Veilguard is great. Love how it looks, and it’s really fun to play as well.

Agreed - I started Tainted Grail recently and it is great. Had played about 15 min of the demo initially when it dropped and thought I could take it or leave it but glad I returned.

Great exploration and immersion, but also great vulnerability. I’m not far at all yet but I’ve walked away from a couple encounters as I feel underprepared and under equipped. Gives stakes to the exploration which is great.

Solid offering, especially for an indie game.

I’ve been playing L.A. Noire. I don’t know if I’ve ever rage quit a game as much since I was a kid? I really love the feeling of being in the game world, the streets and music coupled with the clothes is just stellar. Also, having to get to a phone to call in for an address or check for messages is maybe the most nostalgia inducing warming of the heart I’ve had in a very low mg while.

However, a big problem for me and games that offer a vague “good cop, bad cop” dialog option that is then coupled with something so WILDLY different than my intent is always hard for me. It’s a problem I’ve had with a lot of RPGs or investigative games in that the MCs are just written differently than what I expected.

Still, I imagine I’ll finish. I’ve never clicked with Rockstar, so fundamentally, the walking and driving is something I’m getting used to and I’m learning to lean into the failures of conversation. But the simple joy of a quick, self contained case is just so nice right now.

It is always a good time for BurgerTime :hamburger: One of my favorite arcade games (though the cabinets were phasing out during my heyday). Curious as to others’ favorite cabinet games they donated quarters to in the arcades.

Nioh 3 in 2 weeks. I’m so ridiculously excited. Taking a few days off from work to play. Over the last few years, Nioh 2 has become my favorite video game of all time, and 3 looks amazing.

Been playing Mewgenics this week. A turn-based roguelike about breeding cats and having them go off to fight in grid-based srpg style combat. From the makers of The Binding of Isaac.

So, at 7 hours in I’m still unlocking mechanics that seem pretty basic to the game. Feels like there’s a ton of content and variety here. Some of the jokes don’t quite land with me… But I’ve laughed out loud on a couple of occasions. If you like the idea of double entendres and sex puns that all involve cats then this is the game for you! If not, then there’s still other things to like. I’m not quite sure who all the cat-sex-puns are for actually.

Combat is where it’s at though. Finding synergies with gear and abilities… There’s so many crazy combos you can come with. And I don’t know how many classes there are total but I’ve hit 6 with my unlocks. And you can only take 4 cats out at a time. And each class seems to have a pretty large variety of abilities, so playing the same ones on multiple runs can give you very different builds. And there’s also a ton of management you can do in the house where you breed your cats between runs.

Loving it so far.
