Little Town & Eldritch Town - Solo RPG inspired by Twin Peaks (Cosmic Horror, and Alan Wake)

Daniel (@dungeondive) looks at Little Town by Stavo Coo — a small solo RPG on itch.io inspired by Twin Peaks, David Lynch, and Alan Wake. A review-copy PDF he has been sitting on for a while, finally brought to the table. The bundle includes an Eldritch Town supplement that swaps the cosy small-town vibe for a Call of Cthulhu–style cosmic horror investigation.

Mechanically, it draws from PbtA (Iron Sworn, Star Forged) and cites the Solo Investigator’s Handbook as an influence. You need a PDF, a few d6s, a standard deck of cards separated by suit (diamonds = events, clubs = anomalies, spades = dangers, hearts = clues), and an investigation/scene sheet. Moves include Investigate, Defy Danger, Face Your Doppelganger, Remember a Dream, Reveal a Secret — every NPC has secrets, every investigator has instability.

Daniel walks through a playable example: FBI Agent Bradley Walter arrives in Cypress Falls to investigate a supernatural pandemic. Rolls generate a sunny afternoon, a hospital setting, Dr. Olivia and Nurse Edward discussing a “Mr. Hayward” — an organised-crime figure who may be tied to the illness spreading through town. A successful Defy Danger eavesdrop reduces the time limit from 8 toward the win; failure pushes it toward 12 and parallel-investigation complications.

The second half is a long, enthusiastic David Lynch detour — book collection, magazines, and a full ranking of his twelve major works (Twin Peaks: The Return at #1; Wild at Heart dead last).

Is Little Town’s journaling-plus-suit-draw structure the right frame for solo mystery play, and does Eldritch Town make it the Call of Cthulhu solo supplement we’ve been waiting for?
