What's on your table? General Tabletop Game Discussion

Kids on bikes. Man, that’s a serious 80s nostalgia touch point for me. We lived on our bikes. And hose water. Cause you weren’t allowed back in the house til dinner time.

Back to Arkham… I seem to have forgotten just how great this game is. Running through a couple of scenarios solo to prep for teaching friends later in the week.

Agnes and Roland escaped the Ghoul Priest and his eldritch gathering.

As a parent I can say that sounds like a restful rule for parents

Almost canceled game night over Tuesday but decided to do it and glad we did. Didn’t play the blinged out Heroquest setup; went for a game of Aeon’s End. The Wailing expansion is BRUTAL! We lost twice when the Nemesis was down to one hit point because the glorious initiative system didn’t favor us. I do love random initiative based on card draws. Really introduces chance into combat.

Their terrain is so cool. And the cardboard is so sturdy.

I really enjoy RtDT. I’m hoping Restoration continues to support it with Content. I’d love to see the Dungeon delve aspect expanded upon.

Not board games as such on my table, I’m currently painting dragons for our home brew overland adventures game.

Man that terrain looks fantastic!

Been playing some Massive Darkness 2 lately over the weekend. I really love this game!
Finished organized all my Imperial Assault as well, labeled all the characters and got it ready to play as well.

They are doing double duty as I am making detachable elf riders so I can use them in Warhammer too

I’ve been learning / playing the new edition of Dungeons of Infinity, and it is very good. It’s unfortunate that the game wasn’t released in this state when it initially released (please see my more negative thoughts posted below - not sure about this one). The core box has a ton of game included, and the expansion is super interesting. The expansion offers up three detailed set pieces that can be mixed in to any of the standalone or campaign scenarios in the base game. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an expansion quite like this. Overall, the new rule book is excellent. My only real complaint now is that the character boards are WAY TOO BIG! Like…what the hell?

Think you’ll do a revisit of it? Really inspired by that game. Pretty much a solo designer yeah?

I’ll be revisiting it in a video soon. I’m really conflicted about Dungeons of Infinity. There are a lot of things I like, and a lot of things that just feel off, especially as a solo player. The whole economy feels off to me.

As a solo player, you can spend a lot of time doing nothing before the boss shows up because resting or passing a turn doesn’t do anything negative. So you can spend an infinite amount of time waiting for items from the merchant and resting. The combat economy also feels off as a solo player. There are some enemies that simply cannot be damaged if you’re playing certain heroes. The item economy feels off because there are level 4 items that have the same power levels as level 1 items. And the experience economy feels off. In the handful of games I’ve played this week, I’ve never come close to reaching level 5.

I was looking forward to this new edition. I was hoping that the design would get some development done by the new publisher, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

It’s a game where the more I play it, the less I like it, even though there are some really cool things that happen during the game.
