@Genghis-Pawn : I asked BoardgameRacoon regarding a PnP release of Between Light & Shadow and they say, that is no longer planned. But they ship in the US for only 3,30€ (~4$). This works, because they send the box unfolded in a envelope. So far it worked fine, but they did not know how everything changes with the authorities in the US.
But the first game is relatively cheap and shipping also, so you could try it. There is also a chapter 0 mini expansion.
Chapter 2 will be translated at the moment and should be available in Q1/26 in English language.
Just received the Chip Theory Games edition of Dragons of Echinstone so tried that out last night, no table required. ![]()
Some backers have been experiencing the cards wearing, but so far mine seem to be high quality and resilient as I would expect from CTG. Time and more play will tell.
The game is very cool, it really does feel like Mage Knight in the palm of your hand.
Do you play with bounties, solo? How does that work?
I don’t have that expansion. And I’m still learning the game so just going by the standard solo rules with the expansions I have.
Oh. Your picture had the white bounty cards to the left of the board. I assumed that was your setup…
But, if you’re still learning then take it slow. I really enjoyed this game solo more than I probably should have.
lol, your right! sorry, I bought the game used and a few of the expansions were in the box. Trying to organize what goes with what. Currently have the Blue Sun set up, and the Breakin’ Atmos cards mixed in. And I guess the Pirates and Bounty Hunter cards in there as well. I’ll probably just ignore any cards that references that expansion when I draw them.
All good. I haven’t integrated those cards into my solo plays yet either. I was just curious how they worked.
Back on topic: I’m finally playing Fortune and Glory. This has been a learning session with my nose in the rulebook. It has loads of fun tension, and I look forward to a repeat play.
Finally got my crate of 20 Strong decks. The 20 Strong smorgasbord is a solo puzzler with a central set of dice mechanics that are then implemented differently and thematically across a range of different genres – each deck is a different game with enough familiarity to make switching between decks relatively easy… once you get the hang of things.
Here’s a smattering of some of the delicious choices.
Your classic space marines saving the planet from alien bugs.
Little red riding hood and friends face off against the big bad wolf.
Snow white battles evil step-mum without the aid of dwarves.
They’re quick to set up and pretty tough to conquer. However, there is a sliding difficulty scale for every game – when you lose you keep lowering the difficulty till you win, and vice versa. Plus, so clever how they make each deck feel totally different yet keeping the core rules the same.
I’d be interested to hear how much player agency you find the games to have. When I was looking for a portable game to play solo when travelling it was a choice between 20 Strong and Kinfire Delve for me, and since Kinfire seemed to have more choice in game play that is the one I went with. But additional options are always good, so I’m still curious to hear.
Sorry but is this something new?
Nope. Very old. 2010 I think.
Got an outstanding game of Cave Evil in over the weekend. I need more of this game in my life, it just oooooozes theme and is such a chaotic blast to play.
No, unfortunately. I haven’t been able to find it in English. Definitely caught my attention with the clever cards as rooms/doors on one side/room on the other. Love that stuff.
Has anyone ever developed solo rules for this?
Not that I’ve ever seen, unfortunately. They’re coming out with a new series of Corroded Corridor expansions that will introduce new game modes and add-ons for Cave Evil and Warcults. Maybe one day they’ll introduce a solo mode.
i love this game… so much fun ![]()
