Oh, I was also feeling this itch. But we decided to try League of Dungeoneers next. Hopefully it satisfies.
Same, been feeling the Brimstone itch for awhile, life just has been crazy busy for us.
I still need to learn my copy of LoD
Yeah, I have not yet cracked the rulebook open. I guess I’ll start that while we’re running The Scarlet Keys for Arkham Horror LCG.
This weekend I am delving finally into Ker Nethalas. I have puttered around with it, read the rules, printed player aids, watched some videos and finally feel like I understand enough to jump in!
I had a lot of fun with that one! Hope you enjoy it!
Still one of my favorites.
Last week i played it with a friend who wanted to try it out.
We delved into the Forbidden Fortress with the new One Shot expansion.
Which ist ok but not that different to the “normal” game.
Ah cool you answered a question I had too. I also asked Shawn Fairbanks if the one shot deck was worth it.
I gotta get back into SoB. I own so much content for it, painted all of the last “Adventures” kickstarter… but still haven’t played it. I’ve been focusing on newer games I haven’t played yet… but I need to table SoB again. It’s just hard for me to “get rolling” on it. Eating the first half dozen horrible beat downs while trying to get some gear/levels can sometimes be a deterrent. I need to be a man, handle my business lolol.
well… not really. The Loot deck is quiet cool if you want to level faster in your campaign… maybe i will use it for XL and up enemys… for more LOOT
So late to the party on this one but I finally got it to the table last week after scoring a copy (along with Cobbler Isles) stateside. It’s so good. Everything people have been saying about it being such a relaxing experience to play is spot in. It loosely reminds of Ultima IV’s goals of achieving virtues and gives me similar feelings of game atmosphere (pastoral?). I like the solo rules a lot, especially how you have options to mitigate the timer. Paul sent me the almanac book when I ordered Crows of Coppershell Bay a few months ago and I’m glad I have it. I want to keep playing to unlock all the achievements and fully explore the world!
I love the size of the box too - only slightly bigger than Elder Signs and a bit smaller than a standard sized box. It packs a ton of game in there.
Looks nice. Does it come with solo rules, or is that in one of the expansions?
It does. Paul included solo rules in the second edition along with three scenarios with alternate setups. Cobbled isles also has a co-op mode which you could play solo controlling two characters that has a different scenario and setup as well.
I got caught up in Daniel’s hype train and picked up Wandering Galaxy. I wasn’t going to buy another game in 2025, but my 78 year old dad sent me 100 bucks for my birthday to “buy something I normally wouldn’t”, so I decided one more game couldn’t hurt and put my order in. What a guy still treating me to a little birthday magic at age 44.
I enjoyed the Mass Effect sound track with it… but I don’t think it’s the sound track for the game. The game is so light hearted with it’s dialog that a lot of the more “intense” Mass Effect songs don’t match it. The search for the perfect Wandering Galaxy soundtrack continues!
So far I have been enjoying the game! It does play a little bit slower then I imagined, but hopefully as I become more familiar w/ the game it will become faster. I watched the One Stop co-op Shop play on it, and I liked his idea to use the other alien decks for the apprentices. I think I would like to have more themed decks for them. Maybe in my next campaign I’ll experiment a bit.
I’m finding Dust Runners really difficult. Seems like there isn’t enough movement possibilities in the extended deck. And high chance the the 2 space lead disappears very quickly.
Did you buy it used? Mind if I ask what you paid?
They’ve had some stock at Cardhaus games. It sells out pretty quickly though. I was lucky to score a copy. For the core game and the Cobbled Isles expansion, I paid $70 with free shipping since I hit $100 with another item. Much better than $120 if shipped from England.
Thanks, good deal!
I see a NIS copy of Pauper’s Ladder on BGG from a seller with an excellent rating for $40 plus $10 for shipping, which seems like a bargain for a pauper like me. It is the second edition and also includes the almanac. I’m very tempted but I also have my crowdfunded copy of Earthborne Rangers coming soon.
This is all @Dungeondive’s fault. My wallet shakes its fist at you!
Yeah snag that one up!
Yeah, that’s a great deal and I’d jump on it.
Recently we’ve been playing some smaller games. We did a week of cooperative Bullet❤️, then some Forgotten Depths, and Arkham Horror LCG: The Scarlet Keys.
And now we’re on to our next big box game, League of Dungeoneers.
I’ve gone through all the errata I could find (official and unofficial) and am now reading all the rules. Pretty excited to finally get this one on the table.
