Spacers: Space Adventure Board Game (Xia: Faster. Smaller. Better?)

In this video, we take an in-depth look at “Spacers,” a space adventure board game that offers a streamlined, faster-paced experience compared to the popular game, Zia. You play as a “spacer,” a freelance space traveler in a new solar system, trying to gain fame through various activities like trading, combat, and exploration.

Highlights of the Game:

  • Random Encounters: The game features random encounter cards that provide narrative-driven choices, adding depth and replayability.
  • Missions: Players can undertake missions that require them to transport goods, engage in combat, or explore the galaxy, each with its own unique challenges and rewards.
  • Components: The game includes a modular star map, various ships, a status board, and planet features that change each game, ensuring no two games are alike.
  • Solo Mode: The solo mode is robust, with specific rules and objectives, providing a satisfying challenge for solo players.

The game was initially crowdfunded but didn’t succeed. However, it’s now available on Gamecrafter, and the designer is open to expanding the game with suggestions from the community.

Support the game! Spacers deserves a wider audience.

I really don’t understand how this beautiful thing didn’t make its crowdfunding goal. Kickstarter sure is a fickle beast. Maybe it just got buried under the 400 CMON campaigns that year.

I’m wondering if a more professional graphic design could have benefited the campaign? While I’m sure some of us appreciate the DIY aesthetic, I’m not sure if enough people do.

Ok. The crowd sale is at 45 copies last time I checked. The lowest price will be unlocked based on how many total orders they get. So if you jump in, you’ll get the lowest price. Join us…

I’m conflicted about whether to go in for this crowdsale vs maybe wait for another crowdfunding campaign (since some of the designer’s remarks on Daniel’s yt video suggest there may one day be such a campaign).

I’m fairly sure this is one and the same. The time is now, Genghis!

I feel like this itch is already scratched with me with Star Wars Outer Rim and the Expansion. I understand if you hate SW or whatever you want to get away from the theme, but at the price this is going for even with the crowd sale it just seems too similar.
