GLYPHIS_IO BBS: New meta madness from the designer of Civitas Nihilium

*As James explains in the video, this project uses AI. I’m following along. If (if!) any project can convince me that AI can be used responsibly and can truly, impressively amplify human creativity (rather than devaluing it), this might be the one.

The designer of Citivas Nihilium (DD’s review) has not only been developing a spiritual (and physical) successor to that card game, as I’ve noted before, but in recent news, he is also developing an intricate video game / hacking simulator / ARG. It is very early days in development, but a first dev log video is available and the game is now wishlistable and follow-able on Steam.

From what I’ve seen, audience participation and show-of-interest are very valuable to this designer, so if you have any interest, let him know.

The worldbuilding and layered design are (as usual) exceptionally thoughtful and sure to blur the lines between realities. You sit at your computer and play this game in which you are a hacker sitting at their computer and cracking banned games, which you play as part of how you investigate the world. I also saw some earlier info suggesting that a certain out of print card game might, at some point, be something you can unlock and play digitally inside of GLYPHIS…

I wrote up a pretty big reply in regard to the AI stuff but I the big takeaway for me was, quoting here, “requested vocals like Ian Curtis of Joy Division.”

Nope, hard pass for me. Again, if someone is cool with that, different strokes for different folks. Certainly feels ghoulish to me.
