CrowdSale for UnderQuest - Launches 13 January 2026

Tutorial videos will be dropping over the next few days and I have a copy on its way to the Game Knight for review. I am sure he will make a lot of videos for folks to watch. Also trying to get ahold of Daniel from the Dungeon Dive, but can’t seem to get a response yet, but hopefully that will be happening as well. Stay tuned and spread the word.

I like that he’s taken his favorite parts of the other games. By their powers combined…

I’ve never done a crowd sale; could someone summarise how this works, please?

A crowd sale on the Game Crafter is where they start taking orders for a given period of time. The more people that order it, the cheaper everyone pays at the end of the sale. There is more info here: Crowd Sale Backer FAQ - The Game Crafter

@Dungeondive - Jason posted on Facebook that he was trying to reach you about a review copy of this.

I came here after seeing the upcoming Crowd Sale on Game Crafter, hoping there would be a review.

I’m going to buy it, but I’d still like to see a review.

I’ve been following this for a couple of years and can’t wait to see it out in the world.

I’m going to grab this during the crowdsale - this kind of GameCrafter game is never this cheap.

it’s been a little quiet on the DD board and FB group about this game. What’s the vibe??

I think it looks really rad. I know Grey Gnome Games’ Youtube channel has a setup and character creation video.

I went in on the sale, right now it looks like a pretty solid price for everything that’s included.

I think this currently looks to be the perfect way to get started in the Grey Gnome verse… …but I don’t think it’s for me.

I love Tin Helm (possibly my favourite in the series?!), but the additional mechanisms in Tin Realm leave me cold - I actually don’t enjoy playing it. I’m all in with Iron Helm and like that just fine, and based on UnderQuest videos I have seen I suspect I would have a similar opinion regarding UQ as I have TR.

Finally, what is really exciting/frustrating is that there are apparently lots of expansions in the pipeline, maybe even several each year. Great! If you are USA based. But for those of us who have to pay loads of money for postage and import tax it is going to be a tough decision to either buy or pass up all the juicy extras that of course I would want.

This is all purely personal. I do think UnderQuest looks peak Glover, and I am psyched it is out there for folks to enjoy.

Dang, devastating news. They just cancelled it to rework the combat. I had already put my order in and everything.

I just saw! I gotta give him credit, he’s been working on this thing for so long … this isn’t the first time he’s scrapped parts of it or delayed things. I get why he wants to make it great instead of just shipping it

Oh yeah, I’m not upset at all. Huge respect for making the hard choice and doing what he thinks is the best for the product. I’ll back it again when it goes back up!

Cancelling the CrowdSale for UnderQuest

Dear Backers,

This is an update I never wanted to have to create. After some feedback in regards to the combat system for UnderQuest, I have decided I want to make some changes to the design. The game is 90% perfect and works great, but the combat is not as engaging as I want it to be. You can watch the playthrough video from the Game Knight and you can see just how well everything does work, but the combat is a bit too swingy.

My first priority is to be transparent and honest. I also want to make sure that everyone gets the best version of the game that is possible. I have been hard at work already, working with Dustin Cox (the Game Kinght), to modify the combat system and we have found a great solution and have each already playtested it a few times. A few times is not enough though, so since I have decided to cancel this CrowdSale, I want to take the time to make sure everything is perfect before any future relaunches.

I fully understand if this news upsets you or makes you lose trust in me. I am fully willing to take all responsibility. In the end I want only for backers to get the absolute best version of the game.

I will continue to rework and tweak things so that the combat is much more engaging and fun. I hope all of you understand that my goal is simply to make the best game possible.

Best Regards,

Jason

I was very hyped but this made me question that hype. At least the art is still amazing.

Why? It only shows the creator’s integrity and transparency.

I agree. Sounds to me like he’s delaying to sincerely make it a better version. Not for any shady reason. More like he put it out there, got some feedback, agreed with that feedback and wants to adjust things before putting it out there for sale.

I’m not claiming any nefarious intent, just that my original hype has lessened. I still plan to get everything when the crowd sale starts again.
