After The Virus – now there’s a game I really like. It deserves a place in the Guinness Book of Records for the highest known ratio of worst-looking to best-playing game ever devised.
Ugly as sin. Plays like a dream.

100% agree with that. One of the finest deck builders ever made IMO. Now don’t assume that Plunderlust or 7…7 is a “deck builder” please. It is a deck construction. If you want to try it before buying Plunderlust… 7…7 is a free Pnp.
Are the tuck boxes pre-made decks? Or do you have to construct a deck everytime you play? I mean if I wanted to have some friends round and play, can i just give them a tuckbox and get going? Or would I have to create “a balanced standard deck” for each player?
The Long Hours Till Dawn arrived today.
Really enjoyed the first sci-fi first on, Echo of the Predator.
This one has some new features including custom voice work for the characters.
Will get this to the table tonight.
M&M can be a very hard game, especially because of that cheese wheel. I know this is one area that Jerry has said he wished he handled better. It can stop a good session dead in its tracks.
Been playing some Valheim and really enjoying it. Does a great mix of exploring, collecting resources to build weapons and armor and furniture for your house for bonuses and crafting, monster fights and boss battles. Event decks keep the replay value high and also 4 different bosses to choose from each with their own event and battle deck. Loving it so far!
I played a lot of the computer game valheim. How does it compare?
They do a pretty good job of recreating the video game in board game form. They also made Deep Rock Galactic which is also fantastic too! I am really happy with the game and its pretty fun and easy to understand.
I just finished a marathon of several games of Dragons Down over the past week.
I could use some help deciding on a game to set up for solo play next. Right now I’m torn between Deep Rock Galactic, Pauper’s Ladder, or Fortune and Glory. I’d appreciate a tiebreaker vote if someone has a thought.
Of those, I’ve only played Pauper’s Ladder. But had a fun 3 player game of it last week. So that’s my vote. But also I’d like to know more about Deep Rock Galactic. So maybe got you down to two to choose from.
Pauper’s Ladder is pretty good! ![]()
Thanks! I’ll get Pauper’s Ladder out and review the rules tonight.
Deep Rock Galactic is a sci-fi dungeon delve. Dwarves drop into caves on a hostile planet to mine for rare items while shooting at alien bugs that never stop spawning. Ammo and health are your dwindling resources and there are some rare weapon upgrades and healing items. I’m still exploring the game’s escalating missions. It’s been fun to play each time, but is pretty light fare in terms of rules and decisions.
Deep Rock is great! Lots of variety and just fun to play
Loved this review and will be getting the game if I can find it in the UK
Not direct on the table, but I received my package from Boardgameracoon with all new games from 2025. I started to read the rulebook from Deep Space Dine and Between Light & Shadow - Chapter 2: Twilight. I am really interested in these games right now. Especially BL&S2, because I loved chapter 1.
I also played a short session of Schnitt. It is a game about finding words. Not really something for this group, but it is a nice short party game.
I have been fascinated by both Light & Shadow (though I don’t often too and write) and (especially) Deep Space Done. Very interested to hear what you think of them down the line!
I’ll let you know what the games are like once I’ve played them. I probably won’t get around to it until the Christmas holidays.
Have you played the first part of Between Light & Shadow?
Played my first mission and was really surprised how much tension and space crawling is in this small game. (Also small Game Box)
SPACE lite is a space (dungeon) crawler where you have to survive and achieve a mission goal.
You always play all the 5 heroes, which is easy to do. Draw an event at the start of the round (mostly annoying things happen) then you draw 5 “skill cards” which can be spoiled with Infection cards and choose 2….
Than your turn starts and you have to be quick because when the event deck runs out: you loose… if you die… we’ll you loose and even if you made it… you have to check your skill deck how many Infection cards in there… and maybe you loose that way…
Great tension, great simple DC. Love it.
Only one downside:wink: only standees ![]()

I have not played it, I have only admired it from afar. I rarely get excited about roll and write games (maybe because they are so mechanism-forward, and the theme feels light?). But I’ve watched videos from the designer explaining how Between Light and Shadow works, and I admire it since it is clearly someone’s passion project.
