Checking out Grimscar, a cool little solo Hexcrawl.
Based on my first play together with my daughter, I have to say, I really enjoyed it. It is like a big cozy search riddle, where you have to solve the problems of many of citizens of this kingdom. I have to say, at BGG there is no English version listed so far, but I assume it will come. But there is an interesting development blog:
Stalagbite! One of my favorite games of 2024 will be getting a reprint and a new expansion, and the new expansion will be adding a whole mess of new stuff!
That’s awesome, really want this one!
It’s so good! Love it.
Have you tried Deep Rock Galactic the board game ? I really love that game
Followed their BGG page so I don’t miss it. Thanks!
I have not played DRG yet. Maybe I should be on the look for a copy?
I tried so hard to find an English version of this but I don’t think it exists. Looks so fun though!
Just scrolled down to see this after my response lol ![]()
I just noticed this has a Kickstarter for a bestiary, 6 days to go: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/crowheart/grimscar-rpg-bestiary-and-expansions
Sorry if it’s already been mentioned, I’m behind in my YouTube viewing
I’ve been playing Kingdom Legacy Feudal Kingdom the last week or so and have been having a blast with it! I bought it a while back (Genghis-Pawn mentioned it in another thread and that’s what got me started) and have been slowly working my way through the starter box. I play a hand or two at night (when I have time), so it’s taken a while, but I like that pace so far.
I’ve kind of hit a snag though. I’m far enough along where I’ve discovered a few cards that are actively going to harm my citizens and I’m weirdly disappointed and frustrated with myself. I don’t know that I’ll be able to protect them from these harms and I feel kind of bad about it! I’ll eventually go back to it, but I did pause for a bit lol.
It’s been a fun experience and I’d definitely recommend it!
I used AI to vibe code a web interface to practice play before I start with my purchased deck and addons. The whole process is quite fun for me. I encourage anyone to give this a go, but publisher doesn’t want anyone to take advantage of them sharing the card files. So keep your code to yourself.
I’ve really been enjoying some Eldritch Horror lately. With autumn creeping in, I’m feeling the pull towards Lovecraftian games. Next up I’m going to do a rules refresher on Arkham Horror 3rd Ed.
Dragons Down arrived in Canada yesterday. So I was able to get a 1p exploration game set up.
Day 1. I, Dwarf Explorer, Potluck Grogstone(Potty to my friends), emerge from my life underground atop a large mountain. Here I find “The Astrologer”. I am able to sell some of my dwarven items (I never like that tiny sword and chaffing leathers anyways). The astrologer is eager to get some news of the underground Dwarven kingdom and generously offers a Great Axe at a nice discount. The Astrologer also requests info on his other brothers atop the other peaks in the region and will reward me generously if I could gather this news. He tells me that the nearby faction of Knights are continuously besieged by Giants and need help dealing with them. With this information, I descend the mountain and discover an ancient deep valley. As I enter I find the runes of a waypoint … tucked under its foundation a scroll is found. And what a find! The symbols and notations on the parchment speak of a fiery chasm that will destroy all insight.
Really loving how some basic actions really generate a story. Let’s go Potty!
Dragons Down really does create some fantastic moments and story.
Yesterday Toriki arrived. A family friendly adventure board game. You landed on an island and start to explore it. You collect stuff, craft items and hunt animals/collect food.
A app is used to track stuff and which tell you, if you combine this items or not.
I was impressed, how much fun we have to explore it. Play it with my wife and the two kids (3 and 6 years old).
we already played around 3-4 hours. You should need around 6-8 hours to finish it. Here in Germany it costs 30€ (around 35$) and in my opinion really worth it, not only for kids. But it is a cozy game. So you cannot lose.
Great to know! I got a copy that just showed up.
