That space banjo stuff is so good! The banjo and the pedal steel guitar are two of my favorite instruments.
Same, banjo, harmonica and steel guitar are what I love
Just remembered about this absolute gem while browsing through some Japanese mood music for The Unseen World.
This is probably not appropriate for Unseen World however. XD
I may be the only videogame music fan here, nevertheless.
This is the version of Castlevania 3 that was only released for the Famicon and I believe it has 4 additional oscillators on the cart itself, drastically broadening the sound and richness of the music. I think it’s really awesome. (i’ve been informed it was actually 3 additional oscillators.)
NES/Famicom has 4 on-board oscillators. The additional in-cart oscillators made the game too expensive or something. It may have even been a limited release for Famicom. I believe this was brought to my attention by James Rolfe, the Angry Videogame Nerd. <3<3<3
On that note, anyone here a fan of Board James? It’s my favorite series by James.
Love this band, always love the dreamy guitars and Karen Peris always has this dreamy vocals that take me back to early 90s female led rock.
They were great! Haven’t thought about them in ages, so thanks for the reminder.
They are still touring too which is fantastic
I like quite a bit of video game music, but not a huge fan of retro chip tunes. Just not my thing, but man did they do some amazing work with limited tech back then. I love a lot of music from the PS1 era, especially the soundtracks from the Kings Field and Tomb Raider games. That said, I don’t really listen to too many soundtracks in general outside of playing the games or watching the movies. However, one of my favorite albums of all time is a game OST - The Outer Wilds OST.
King’s field had some great music!!
Wizardry, King’s Field were all my jam back then
Been listening to Indigenous lately, a band really not a whole ton of people have heard about but I really dig.
If there’s any tech death fans out here, Archspire’s new album “Too Fast To Die” is pretty great. Their lyrics always seem to surpass the inventiveness of their peers, and every album just expands the grotesque world that they’re building. Giving you more pieces of the puzzle. But I generally have to read along because even by death metal standards it’s hard to grab what he’s saying by ear.
EDIT: And for anyone interested this blog post is a little older but goes pretty in-depth about this world Archspire is building. *prognotes // Archspire – Bleed the Future – Heavy Blog Is Heavy | Heavy Blog is Heavy
Been in a 90s rock mood lately and been listening to Five Way Friday, such a great band that never gets talked about. Lots of great songs
Been listening to this old album from 1997 of symphonic Led Zeppelin lately. The bands songs sound so good symphonically. So glad this was before AI was even a thing as all of this is done by Jaz Coleman. I remember picking this up as a teen at Half Price bookstore and just being entranced by this album.
Been listening to the old radio dramas of Mystery Theater as I walk every night and man these have been fantastic. So many of them too!
