I wasn’t going to get this one, but @Dungeondive gave it the final nudge. I’ll file it under “research expenses” for Ziggurat and try not to think too hard about it.
EDIT: Plus there is something about not having to wait 2 years for it to turn up
Got my order in and I’m anxiously awaiting it’s arrival. I’ve been following (loosely) the development for the last year or so and yes, it’s kinda cool that it’s just going to show up over the next ~2 weeks. No drawn out crowdfunding or long preorder.
Yeah, for sure. I love that Jenna over at Devious Weasal does the same thing. No shade at all meant to anyone taking the Crowd Funding route - different people, different games, different paths yadda yadda yadda. However, I’m glad to be playing sooner rather than later.
I had never heard of this game before this thread (I missed the video on TDD earlier ). Figured I’d check it out and was immediately taken with the premise. So, of course, I bought! I’m reeeeealy hoping I connect with this game because it’s such a great idea!
Edit for spelling
My first foray onto the planet was, frankly, a bit lacklustre. I spent 90 minutes trudging through the desert, growing steadily more irked at the disconnect between what I thought I was doing and what the narrative decided I had done. Wild swings in difficulty emerged from seemingly harmless choices - and I ultimately perished while trying to buy something in a shop. As one does.
Still, I rolled the dice on another crash landing this morning. Made planetfall atop a strange peak and leapt a chasm with reckless abandon.
This new dawn brought a shift in perspective: I stopped trying to second-guess the story and gave up any pretence of finessing the dice. I’ve had a much better time simply spending all skill tokens as they arrive and shoving dice onto the grid if they fit. Once I stopped treating it like a survival puzzle and leaned into the narrative chaos… it improved.
