Here is a real hidden gem in my opinion. The Chasm was an entry for the 9-card design contest at BGG. Unfortunately, the game was never completed, but hear me out. Only 3 side stories are missing as far as I understand. I played the demo version and did the German translation of the demo. Since then I waited till all was finished. Unfortunately, the designer seems missing. I did not get any feedback from him.
BUT, there is a nearly complete version, besides these 3 side storylines.
What makes it so special? You have a huge world to explore, which is hidden in a Chasm, plunged into darkness. You always see you tile you are standing on and the next what is coming. It is a hugh labyrinth, where you have to find the exit.
Only 2 tiles are ever placed and based on where you come from and where you will go, a code system tells you which of the remaining 7 tiles (2 are already on the table), will be placed or if a event will be triggered and then you have to read in a book what happens.
Inbetween you have to fight spirits in the darkness. The points of a dice is shows in which pattern you can attack the spirit.
The exploration part is something I really like and I have to draw a map to not get lost in this game. The combat system is okay, but nothing special in my opinion.
The best is, the game is completely free and can download here in the contest entry at BGG:
Beware there is an small errata, which is not included in the documents.
