Recommendations for "Clive Barker's Imagica meets William Gibson"

Hi all, like the subject says, I’m looking for a new book to read, and my itch is something like Imagica or Great and Secret Show meets anything from William Gibson or Robert Heinlein. I’d prefer something that was written in the last 10 years or so, but any time will do.

Does anything like this exist?

Thanks,

I don’t know any of your “like this” sources well enough to say if this is in the sweet spot, and it isn’t from the last 10 years, and it arguably hasn’t aged terribly well, but – have you previously consumed Snowcrash?

Not yet. Great recommendation! Thanks.

If you want to go older, Vance’s Tales of a Dying Earth might do it. Has a bit of that Imajica big world feel.

I agree Snowcrash is pretty solid of a rec if you’re going more cyberpunk.

Far as Heinlein feels, maybe some of the Warhammer 40K novels? I have a buddy that loves them. I think she digs the Dan Abnet ones.

If you’re going for more of Barker’s lyrical prose, Poppy Z Brite’s stuff is pretty boundry pushing, especially their 90s output.

Eric LaRocca is someone folks toss around as modern Clive (I don’t see it but I did like Things Have Gotten Worse Since Last We Spoke on Weirdpunk).

I think Joe Koch is a better example of Barker-esque surreal trash, especially love Wingspan of Severed Hands.

I also think China Mieville would be a solid rec. Perdido Street Station is more weird fantasy akin to Abarat or Thief of Always.
