Quests over Coffee - Have Coffee, Will Quest

Daniel (@dungeondive) is charmed by Quests over Coffee, Alexander Shannon’s tiny card-based adventure game (a Game Crafter review copy, also pay-what-you-want PDF on itch.io for ~$5). He files it alongside the Tower of the Ice Lich and Castle of Sanguine Blight: a breezy 10-minute game you play on a coffee break. Complete ten quests to win; each quest is resolved by rolling 3d6 against a target, with a special bonus if you roll a pair, straight or specific numbers, and consequences for failing.

Along the way you spend luck to re-roll, money to add dice or hire companions, collect items, and visit shops between quest-batches to buy or trade. He delights in the art and the Tom-Wham-ish indie humour (a mimic toilet, Metroid’s Samus as a hireling, Uno’s reverse card as an item), and praises the varied quest-environment cards that tweak each run. His one complaint: the quests have no titles, which he feels would add thematic flavour — and the deck box leaves no room for the dice. Not for crunch-seekers, but a genuinely lovely, fast, funny little quest-on-your-break game he recommends.

Quests over Coffee is built to be played in ten minutes on a break. Do you keep a few of these tiny, fast games around for snatched moments, or do you find it hard to get invested in something so brief?
