Proposal to change response cap

I have noticed that there is a site rule that limits to three consecutive responses from a single user in a row. I have also noticed that certain threads die because people stop posting in them. (And posting keeps them returning to the top of the recent topics.) I have wanted to keep certain threads alive but at times have been the only one posting, I feel that this is typically a temporary thing and it ebbs and flows. I guess I am just wondering if more threads would stay alive if even just one poster keeps a heart beat going in them long enough for the next responder to come along, if that makes sense.

I guess I am wondering the pros and cons of keeping the rule as it is versus changing it.
Thanks.

This is the default setting for the forum and it is designed to promote healthy discussions. The recommendation from the forum creators is to edit one of your earlier replies as the update will bump a thread in the updated threads list.

That said, I have updated the max consecutive replies to five to see if that helps
