Hi everyone!
I’m currently working on a small TTRPG dungeon-crawl that takes place in the Bazalgette sewers beneath London.
Here’s the idea:
“It is now the year 1958, and you, a hardworking citizen, have been drafted by the royal court. When the reeking horrors were sealed away a century ago, the heavy miasma quickly became a memory. But, exiled underground, they were planning their revenge: rats, forsaken cultists, swarms of botflies, and sewer trolls.
Your holy (and decently paying) mission (job) is to get rid of these foul beings before they find their way back to the surface.”
All you’ll need for this adventure is a character sheet, some dice, and two decks of cards.
I’ve been tinkering with a ruleset and trying to create a game system that works for me—a coherent and techy system that’s straightforward but dynamic, with some resource management and a bit of dice-tossing to make every game unique.
- Combat is diceless and uses one deck of cards, which you’ll share with your enemy.
- The dungeon floors are procedurally generated using a modified deck of cards.
Currently, I’m streamlining a demo of the game, which includes:
- One playable character
- Four types of enemies
- A limited number of items to find or buy from the merchant
- Two boss rules
I’ve been playing a lot to get the mechanics right, but I need help making a cohesive and clear ruleset.
It’s going to take about another week to finish the demo, but I’ll happily send it to anyone interested in playtesting a few games. I’m looking for critique and clarity—this is my first time designing a ruleset, and it’s a passion project for me.
(P.S. I draw a lot, so if this catches some interest, I’ll be sure to illustrate and polish it into a full-fledged game!)
