Earthborne Rangers - Review

Daniel (@dungeondive) reviews Earthborne Rangers on its own merits, saving the Vantage comparison for another video.

The world is genuinely enchanting—art channelling Nausicaä and Princess Mononoke, ecological interactions where predators react to prey and challenge cards cascade across your tableau. This interconnected system is the game’s best feature. But the path decks are disappointingly thin; Daniel’s seen every card in some decks within six in-game days. The valley deck, he notes with restrained frustration, “should have been fifty cards.”

Character progression feels slow—one card unlocked across six sessions, major accomplishments rewarding a single energy token. He’s found workarounds. The video explores whether the world’s charm compensates for mechanical frustrations.
