I am not familiar with this platform, but after some poking around I am not finding any quick options to, e…g, hide the thumbnail images next to each post/thread and display them in a more compact way.
Am I missing a helpful corner of a “preferences” menu, or is this sort of thing not possible on this platform?
The standard view is a compressed listing. I added thumbnails to topic listings in a bid to make things prettier. This works well for quieter forums where you’re enticing people to engage with content, and less well for busier forums where the focus shifts to making life easier for participants to get a handle on lots of threads.
You do have a few options under user preferences but the style of topic listing is not one of them.
I must admit I was not anticipating the immediate enthusiasm of our crotchety community of dungeon divas
I originally set the default for universal thumbnails on all listings, but I’ll tinker with the settings to cherry pick certain categories for thumbnails and change the primary topic list to a more traditional thread listing to see if that improves things.
First of all “Thanks!” for actively looking into it,
Second I acknowledge that the initial settings choices you had made with the thumbnails made for a very aesthetically attractive and ‘modern’ looking site/forum,
and Third I embrace the label “crotchety” and admit that my own preferences often privilege function over form.
I believe the answer to my question is “No,” this is not an option for users. While I appreciate that admin can make changes to the site as a whole, I didn’t intend for my preferences on this to shape the site for everyone. So, I’ll let y’all decide the defaults, and I’ll get used to it – but again, Thank you for checking it out.
We’re still very much finding our feet here and I think your suggestion was spot on. I like the new settings; especially if we continue to see an increase in posts.
PS. I also removed all thumbs from the mobile view now which i think cleans thing up and improves the performance considerably for those of us on dodgier mobile services.
