Daniel (@dungeondive) opens a solo let’s play with a single hero — the Exorcist, a faith-and-miracles paladin — testing the designer’s claim that the game scales down to one accursed. He talks through character setup: starting kit (demon-femur mace, libro sanctum, an old sensor that grants +1 armour against demons), morality restrictions (no cursed items, must obey holy icons), and the Devoted level-one skill that grants a faith point on any darkness roll of 1–4. The libro sanctum draws three random miracles each dungeon — one offensive, one defensive, one healing — and he ends up with Control Evil, Retribution and Hold Evil.
The opening quest is the Awakening: the cursed heart is pressed into his hand by the Grim Warden, he must cross the Necros Stream and survive whatever the dungeon deck spits out. Rounds tick to a familiar Warhammer Quest cadence — darkness roll, explore, event, turn — and for several rounds nothing happens but corridors. Then a 4×4 room appears with an environmental card (an abandoned meal, untouched on the hearth), the darkness wheel ticks into the red, and a spike trap triggers the first agility test of the run.
Episode one is mostly setup and slow corridor work — characteristic of crawls in this lineage. Does the Warhammer-Quest-style empty-corridor pacing earn the eventual payoff, or do you want the encounter deck to bite from turn one?
