Daniel (@dungeondive) revisits Conquest of Planet Earth from Flying Frog Productions — a 1950s B-movie alien invasion game that plays like Space Invaders on your tabletop.
You control an alien race (Trune, Martian Confederacy, Venusian Matriarchy, and many more) trying to conquer Earth before humanity’s resistance track maxes out. Combat is gloriously simple: total your strength, roll a d6, highest wins — but any natural 6 is an automatic victory, meaning even an angry mob with pitchforks can take down a flying saucer armada.
What makes it shine:
- Absolutely gorgeous Mars Attacks-style artwork on the cards
- Solo games take 20-30 minutes with minimal setup
- Each alien race plays differently with unique powers
- The Apocalypse expansion adds allies, coastal battles, and terror tokens
- Delightfully swingy and dramatic — you’re not here for deep strategy
Daniel picked up his copy (with expansion) on eBay and got a surprise message from the seller: “Are you by any chance Daniel from the Dungeon Dive?” Small world!
The video also includes a plea to Flying Frog to take a break from Shadows of Brimstone and support their other games again.
Any other Flying Frog fans here? What’s your favourite of their non-Brimstone titles?
