Bloodwork and Lands of Evershade

What’s peoples take on the two new big adventure/dungeon crawl games on crowd funding? Bloodwork and Lands of Evershade.
I think they both look really good. Especially the combat in Bloodwork. Very tactical. Evershade as well looks an extremely comprehensive game.

The only reason I’m not backing is I have DUN and LoD, waiting on Elder Scrolls, as well has numerous other Dungeon crawl games. So I am really just sticking to these at the moment. I can’t see that they will replace the DUN & LoD experience for me (love the old school crunchiness of these two games)

I’ve been interested in Bloodwork since their first attempt at a campaign. But it’s definitely not a sure thing since I don’t think they’ve made a game before. I personally like to back games like that though… Sort of what crowdfunding was for originally. To get new developers off the ground. Anyway, I backed Bloodwork based off of what I liked about the first campaign and haven’t really paid too much attention to what’s changed this time around. But they seem like a dedicated group that’s giving it an honest attempt.

I don’t think Lands of Evershade is currently accepting backers now. That was a campaign from last year. And I did back it, but Awaken Realms is often hit or miss at our table. We like Nemesis and the original Tainted Grail games. The newer Tainted Grail wasn’t as fun for us. Tamashii had potential to be cool but they didn’t develop or play-test it enough and it needs tons of house rules to be a challenge. And so I’m not backing the sequel’s campaign. But Evershade is more of a flagship game for them, so hopefully it’ll turn out well? I’m honestly more excited about Story of Many than Lands of Evershade…

I’m in a similar boat, but on which to seek out to try, rather than to buy.
I have watched videos about Lands of Evershade, Stonesaga, and Aygor (just funding now). There are no videos I could find that actually compare recent games. I had not even heard of Story of Many.

For those of you who do deeper research into these, what criteria do you use to choose which to seek out and which to pass by?

I either stick with developers I love and trust, or take a risk on new developers if I don’t see any red flags. Which is sort of an intuitive thing. But I’ve backed a ton of stuff and only had a couple not deliver, so I feel like I’ve done well. Though these days I’m a bit pickier. Our collection is rather large and usually if something was received well it’ll get a 2nd campaign and edition (with a few exceptions for solo indie creators and very small teams that don’t look to expand).

2nd hand markets aren’t bad to buy off of these days either if you’re patient enough to wait for a good deal.

FYI, I just looked up Aygor because I hadn’t heard of it and it’s already cancelled.
