Ash Versus the Land of Talisman - Part One

The first gameplay session of the Ash versus Talisman series. Ash emerges from the Timescape Vortex into the Warlock’s Cave and receives his first quest.

House Rules in Detail:

  • 7 trophy points can trade for any stat (strength, craft, gold, or life)
  • Training at corner spaces: spend 7 gold/items for +1 to any stat
  • Fate points (borrowed from 4th edition): spend to reroll dice, max 3, earned at alignment-specific spaces
  • Cards for movement/combat with fantasy-themed playing cards
  • Alternative dungeon/timescape discovery rules

Session Highlights:

  • Rolled a 2 from Vortex, emerging at Warlock’s Cave
  • Quest: Deliver 2 gold to receive a Talisman
  • Gained a Man-at-Arms follower (+2 strength in combat)
  • Defeated a Goblin (strength 2) easily with chain sword bonuses
  • Met the Sphinx but failed the riddle
