For anyone who doesn’t already have this on their radar (pretty sure I haven’t seen this posted yet here). Andrea Sfiligoi just released the 4ad expanded edition. I seriously think it’s worth looking at. 200+ pages of content, tons of stuff, my hope is better organized and accessible than the original. $10. Roleplaying advice in the back? Several expansions built into it? Yes please. Daniel please take a look if you haven’t already.
I plan on taking a look at some point!
So going forward will my current older books from 1st edition be compatible with this updated rule set?

Someone asked about this and a while back in regards to 4AD and Underoath. I was under the impression no AI was used but @TermNerdy had asked on FB and gotten this response from Andrea -
Yes, previous books are compatible.
Note: One of the biggest changes was an increase in classes from 8 to 20.

Yes, I saw her video and I do like the content and presentation. All the new classes seems interesting. I don’t yet know if I will buy the new book depends on price. I am also thinking whether the supplements like Four against the Abyss will fit in well with the new books rules set.
I just received my copy yesterday and my overall impression is … very dark. Or maybe low contrast is better? Some of the class portraits are hard to see (dwarf, for example). I also don’t like the style of the tables. A place where there is too much art. Making each entry look like a scroll or scrap of parchment makes it hard to read quickly.
Also a victim of too much art is the character sheet which is pretty much all images. That’s not a big deal since I do my own sheets anyway.
The table of contents is just a big list with no headings even though each section of the book has headings.
That aside, 4AD is one of my favorite dungeon crawler games and I am happy to have this edition.
For those who want a refresher course on all things 4AD, @thekeeper just posted a channel archive update covering off about 12 different videos from the Dungeon Dive.
Wanted to follow up on my initial review to say that the very dark printing on my physical copy seems to just be an issue on the printer’s end. The PDF is not as dark and I’ve seen physical copies others have that came from different printers and they look fine. So, as with all print-on-demand products, YMMV.
