What are you reading? General Book Discussion

Yeah… It is still my favorite fantasy movie. It seems so real at times. I wish they would remake it and add more things from the book and then stretch out the final battle at the end of the movie… its so short, it sucks it just pretty much ends that quickly. The book is pretty much the same, except for the big battle with the fire worm in the movie, thats not in the book. The book pretty much ends with them going into the cave. Its been a couple years since ive read it so… am back reading it lmao. I also wish more fantasy movies would have taken this more serious approach to making them… if it had magic in it, thats the tone I hoped that last DnD movie had.. i enjoyed it for what it was but never watched it after that first viewing. It was too goofy for me.

And no, I have not read those.

love this series! Takes me back to when I read it as a teen!

Really enjoying this! Reminds me of the classic high fantasy I enjoyed reading as a teen

No, I haven’t yet. I heard good things about it though. I don’t have any streaming services like Netflix or Hulu but my friends do. I’ll ask if we can watch it the next time I see them.

I too have a copy of this one sitting on my shelf, but haven’t gotten to it yet. How is it?

I’m enjoying it! This is the third time I am reading the series though, so I am a little biased. It can be a little slow at times, but I still enjoy it all these years later.

‘Salem’s Lot is so good! One of my favorites.

Such a great move, with one of the coolest sequences I’ve ever seen in a movie.

I finally did it. Got my holy grail. I’d prefer one in better condition. But I got an OK edition for an OK price.

Is it weird that this is the ONLY Terry Brooks I’ve either owned or read? I dig it but how much of that is just me digging Hook? Unknown.

Oh nice! Never read that one. The only Brooks I’ve read are the Sword and Elfstones of Shannara. I enjoyed them, but never enough to keep reading.

Oh wow! That’s such a great find. Such a cool movie. I didn’t know there was a book adaptation of it. Congrats on getting it.

It’s one of the more sought after novelizations. It’s supposed to be very good. It’s actually written by Dennis Etchison - Wikipedia

He is an author that a lot of other horror authors really respect.

I just remembered something. I also have these three Buffy the Vampire Slayer novels. They’ve been in sitting on my book shelf for a bit and sadly I still haven’t read them. The second book Ghost Roads I’ve had for a while. I think found it at a local garage sale back when I was in my teens. I recently tacked down the first and third book in the trilogy for a very reasonable price.

There’s also another movie adapted book that I’m dying(not literally)to get my hands on. Its kind of become my white whale. I’d love to find a copy of the Lost Boys movie book. I’ve seen used copies of it floating around on eBay but sellers are asking for over $200.00 for it. So the chances my getting one are slim, unless I just bite the bullet and drop $200 on one.

Finished When the Wolf Comes Home (highly recommended if you dig Nat Cassidy) and picked up these two at a local HPB.

That’s the best cover I’ve seen for the dynamic duo. Is it a graphic novel?

I’m pretty sure it’s prose with more Mignola spot illos throughout. I had, not this one but another White Wolf Pub, one from the 90s that was like this. Could be wrong though but at least the Omnibus OGN is more modern/simplified shapes Mignola.

Re reading this right now. If you have any interest in Blade Runner, I highly recommend it.

This is a trilogy set that creates a lot of questions and answers maybe two about the Blade Runner mythos. But damn if this set isn’t all style and a lot of substance on a future we’re a lot closer to than most realize.
