Open to any dungeon synth recommendations folks might have that are more on the ambient side. I work from home and often put on ambient as a productivity backdrop. Looking for something like the Vermis soundtrack maybe. I’ve got a Dungeon Synth playlist where I’ve consolidated a few of my favorite albums https://www.youtube.com/embed/videoseries?list=PLKewgRd8Eir8uKXq73-iLzFy4E3YlEmwM&wmode=transparent&rel=0&autohide=1&showinfo=1&enablejsapi=1 And, if you care to check out, I also have a bunch of ambient albums I’ve written and recorded. Not dungeon synth, but ambient. > **[danieljdavis](https://carlsagansghost.bandcamp.com/music)** > > Daniel J. Davis - aka Carl Sagan's Ghost ---

Had no idea that Dungeon Synth was a defined genre 😉 > **[Dungeon synth](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dungeon_synth)** > > Dungeon synth is a genre of electronic music that merges elements of black metal and dark ambient. The style emerged in the early 1990s, predominantly among members of the second wave black metal scene. > The genre employs aesthetics and themes typically associated with black metal juxtaposed to the typical heavy tremolo-picking, blast-beats, and harsh, shrieked vocals of black metal by way of compositions of instrumental or ambient music commonly used as introductions, interludes, or "outros" in... ---

All of these are instrumental, but perhaps not all will qualify as ambient. Only 2 were (arguably) intended as dungeon synth (and are in fact soundtracks for other analog games). I don’t know what the forum/site will do with these URLs. https://bandcamp.com/EmbeddedPlayer/v=2/album=61606912/size=large/tracklist=false/artwork=small/ https://bandcamp.com/EmbeddedPlayer/v=2/album=4183696516/size=large/tracklist=false/artwork=small/ https://bandcamp.com/EmbeddedPlayer/v=2/album=3664487538/size=large/tracklist=false/artwork=small/ https://bandcamp.com/EmbeddedPlayer/v=2/album=2694979008/size=large/tracklist=false/artwork=small/ edit: the site did something pretty darn cool with those URLs. Bandcamp FTW. ---

I default to these two very often as the bridge between ambience and music: [![](https://dungeondive.quest/uploads/default/original/1X/9b7c6385bb3b0e849f555c7150ba6961ac625b1c.jpeg "Alex Crispin - Escape the Dark Castle (Original Soundtrack) (2018) (Old-School Dungeon Synth)") ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pa1IqU8fHfo) [![](https://dungeondive.quest/uploads/default/original/1X/01fb46595fb10ae06356cd734eb9bfe2634ea16c.jpeg "Old Tower - The Rise Of The Specter (2017) (Old-School Dungeon Synth)") ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tOqFr1AgYT4) These two are VERY ambient: [![](https://dungeondive.quest/uploads/default/original/1X/0e7433bd45e9ec36be8fe4992e52bb6b3c5af27d.jpeg "Dark Music of Gothic Castles and Fallen Lords") ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaHZQLVGpDE) [![](https://dungeondive.quest/uploads/default/original/1X/f3ffbf4be01d078f025478f53ca3fe4965ed11b0.jpeg "Dark Gothic Music of Old Ruins and Ancient Temples") ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6It2y6sgUA) A bit more chill: [![](https://dungeondive.quest/uploads/default/original/1X/5146927f4029f10ac20be5cb07c4b4f97c4cb13c.jpeg "Witch Bolt - Bellow (Dungeon Synth, Dungeon Ambient)") ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYbXZOjk6JA) Definitely instrumental, but a favourite: [![](https://dungeondive.quest/uploads/default/original/1X/ec60bbb91569801bc76387618f9dd0122d30a634.jpeg "Frost Clad - A Hunter's Delight (2022) (Dungeon Synth, Fantasy Ambient)") ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_0ugScztPU) ---

I like less elements that distract and more that just put me in the mood. For me, that means ambient, and I mean like no beat at all. Steve Roach is great for this, I like Midnight Moon for spooky games, for example. Not for everyone, but you can’t argue the man knows his textures. ---

I have been really into Glass Beams lately, really good music and easy to put in the background as you dive into some board games. Has a middle eastern flare to it.
