Daniel (@dungeondive) dives into Dead End by AR Cury—a solo-only tower defence game where you play Bobby Butcher, a three-armed anti-hero with demonic appendages, fending off waves of enemies in a dead-end alley. The box itself unfolds into the playboard with three colour-coded lanes (thoughtfully marked with shapes for colourblind accessibility), and your action cards dictate which alleys you can shoot down.
The resource management is elegant: burn through your six action cards, drop your energy by one, redraw fewer cards. Repeat until you’re dead or victorious. Enemies spawn, advance, and damage you if they reach your tower—but your demonic third arm can hold one special item like a butter knife for emergency defence. Daniel liked it enough to immediately buy the expansion, which adds more variety, a karma system, and additional pressure. The timing rules need tightening, but for a small, fast, travel-friendly tower defence experience? Dead End delivers.
